Glass Fibre Products - Multiple Winding

Plied yarns are very simply multiple strands of yarn twisted together. The incoming strands of yarn – known as ‘singles’ – have a twist applied to them during their manufacture, and by twisting two or more singles together in the opposite direction, a plied yarn is created. Two plied singles makes a 2-ply, three plied singles make a 3-ply, and so on, and by plying together plied yarns – a process known as cabling – even greater strand counts can be achieved.

Plied and cabled yarns are used for a wide variety of applications throughout the world, in many different formats. Their benefits over singles yarn include an improvement in tensile strength, by virtue of the twist applied to the fibre – the more twist the higher the strength. Plying also allows for a greater range of product weights to be supplied over and above the singles yarns. The plying process also encapsulates the individual fibre filaments inside the plied bundle, thereby reducing the impact of any filament faults.

The list of raw materials commonly used to make plied yarns is very expansive – from natural fibres such as cotton, wool, silk, jute or hessian, through polyester, nylon and polypropylene, to more advanced fibres such as basalt, high density polyethylene, aramids, NEET and PEET. Glass fibres are also very commonly used as a base for plied yarn constructions, and Multiple Winding specialises in plied glass yarn manufacture, producing a diverse range of materials utilising singles supplied from all major global glass manufacturers, to exacting specifications and unparalleled quality standards. If plied yarn is your need, Multiple Winding can provide it. // read more

Our Multi-End Winding division is exactly that – winding multiple ends together; it is also more than that, winding single or plied fibres onto a wide variety of core designs. Multi-end winding differs from plying in that the fibres are wound parallel to each other on the bobbin.

A specialist product that forms a key part of our Multi End Winding range is our MultiComp fibre – a range of lightweight 2-ply fibres which comprise one ply of glass fibre, and one of polyester. These products can be supplied as a two-ply fibre on a bulk package, or can be parallel wound with up to 45 ends together, with a wide range of core sizes and winding patterns available to suit your needs.

We can also wind fibres either of our own supply, or yours, onto a variety of different core types, including braider bobbins for electrical wire braiding, or Kingspools for cable wrapping. Whatever your needs, we are confident that we have the capability to meet them. // read more

Fiberglass Plied Yarn(fr,ko,hr)

In terms of applications, fiberglass yarns can be categorized into Two types, industrial yarns and electrical yarns.

In terms of sizing, yarns can be categorized into Three types, Y-Yarns, R-Yarns, and S-Yarns.

Y-YARN: starch sizing, easy for heat cleaning, excellent weave property, typically used to produce glass fabrics and general-purpose products. They are also the based materials for Printed Boards.

R-YARN: silane-based sizing, high tensile strength of filaments and great alkali resistance, compatible with EP, UP, VE and PF resin systems.

S-YARN: starch and silane based sizing, outstanding weaving properties and flexible for various industrial applications.

According to manufacturing process, fiberglass yarns are also categorized into another two types: Single Yarn and Plied Yarn.

Hundreds of individual fiberglass filaments are joined to form single yarns by first twisting. Plied yarns are those that have had two or more single yarns twisted together again.

Storage:

It is recommended that fiberglass plied yarns is stored in a dry and cool area, out of sunlight, clear of the ground on pallets protected from rainfall. The best temperature range is 15 to 35℃. accordingly, the best humidity is 35% to 65%. Please kindly avoid excessive compaction to protect them from damage. It will be better to remain their original packaging until immediately before us.
