The Mahaska County Conservation Board's cabins are adjacent to the Eveland Access campgrounds located at - 290th Street, Oskaloosa, Iowa .  The two bedroom cabins offer a home away from home for those that do not enjoy "roughing it" at the campgrounds.  Being located near the Des Moines River offers the opportunity to fish and boat (boat access located below the cabins).  Hunting is accessible at several neighboring MCCB public areas however, hunting is NOT allowed at the Eveland Access area (which includes the campgrounds and the cabins).   Nearby is Bluff Creek ATV Park which offers off-road ATV trails; however, off-roading and/or operating an ATV is NOT allowed on the Eveland Access area.

Cabin Information

The Apple and Birch cabins offer comfortable accommodations for up to 6 guests, with a maximum capacity of 10. The cabin features two bedrooms, a full bathroom, a spacious living room, a well-equipped kitchen, and an inviting outdoor deck. Reservations are made online at mycountyparks.com for questions, contact Mahaska County Conservation Board at (641)-673-.

Mahaska County Conservation Provides:

• Toilet tissue
• Paper towels
• Hand towels 
• Dish soap and hand soap
• Cleaning supplies: All-purpose germicidal cleaner for all surfaces, floor cleaner with mop, a broom and dustpan
• Wastebaskets and garbage bags
• Cooking utensils, plates, silverware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, coffee pot and toaster

• Renter will need to bring:

• Complete linens, blankets, sleeping bags and pillows
• Bath linens and toiletries
• Lawn chairs
• Food and beverages
• Firewood

Cabin Features

• 952 square feet of living space
• Modern bathroom with a handicap friendly shower

Cabin Rental Checklist/Clean-Up Guidelines:

1. Make yourself at home but please treat the cabin with respect.  You may adjust the thermostat to your liking, but kindly return it to 72 degrees  when you leave.    
2. Only patio furniture may be used on outside deck. No other furniture is to be placed outside. 
3. We have Iowa County Conservation Guides and also local information on the table.  Please DO NOT remove those from the cabins.
4. Please clean out the sink.  Do not leave grease or food particles in the sink.
5. Complete clean-up necessary: sweep and mop floors, clean bathroom, etc.  Leave the cabin in good shape. 
6. Kitchen:  Wipe down and clean the table, counter tops, stove, and microwave with the Germicical Foam provided.
7. Bathroom:  Wipe down and clean the shower stall, the toilet (all surfaces...top to bottom and inside and out) with the Germadical Foam provided.
8. Remove all food and drink from the refrigerator and ice and/or frozen items from the freezer.
9. Dispose of trash in receptacles located at the driveway entrance to the cabin.  
10. Place pop cans/bottles in the receptacle located between the cabins.
11. Bring all patio furniture back into the cabin.
12. Be sure lights, overhead fan, TV, and coffee pots are all turned off. 
13. Return the thermostat to the original setting.
14. Make sure the front door, the door to the deck, and all the windows are closed, locked and bolted.  

Please Remember…

1. Our policy states that there are to be NO pets of any kind inside the cabin.  
2. No smoking in the cabin.

• Minimum two-night stay during regular week/weekends
• Minimum three-night stay during holiday week/weekend
• Peak season / April 1 – December 31. Rate is $140 a night
• Off season / January 1 – March 31. Rate is $110 a night
• Notify the Park Office of all cancellations. If you need to cancel a reservation, you will lose 100% of all reservation fees paid. If you contact the Park Office 7 days before your reservation, you are allowed to change reservation dates (limited to twice) to a later date that works best.
• All reservations with the Mahaska County Conservation Board facilities are final. Reservations are non-refundable unless the following situations occur: The National Weather Service has issued severe winter weather conditions and advised against travel. We are unable to provide your facility (or like facility) in operable condition for the date of your event.
• Check in time is 3:00 p.m.  (unless an alternate time has been granted by MCCB staff)
• Check out time 11:00 a.m.  (unless an alternate time has been granted by MCCB staff)
• Maximum cabin capacity is 10 people
• Maximum length of stay is 14 consecutive nights.
• An individual must be Twenty-one (21) years of age to rent the cabin and must be present during duration of stay
• Vehicles must be parked in provided driveway
• Cabin furniture must stay inside cabin
• All patio furniture must be placed back inside the cabin
• No keg beer is allowed in or around the cabins
• Pets are prohibited inside the cabin
• Smoking is prohibited inside the cabin
• All exterior doors and windows must be closed, locked and bolted upon checkout
• The checkout list should be completed and signed after each stay
• Mahaska County Conservation Board reserves the right of management to enter the cabins in an emergency, to inspect, and/or replenish supplies.
• All trash must be bagged and taken to the dumpsters provided in the area. Please do not use the fire ring as a trash receptacle. DO NOT BURN TRASH.
• Failure to clean up the facility as outlined and failure to comply with park rules or state laws will result in verbal warnings and possible removal from park grounds by Park Staff. Furthermore, Mahaska County Conservation Board may take any legal action necessary to recover damages to county property.

Enjoy this charming cabin perfectly located between Boone and Blowing Rock! Just two minutes off Highway 321 finds you in the log cabin community of Timber Ridge and at the door of The Apple Cabin.

Enter the main room with a vaulted ceiling and gas log fireplace. The kitchen and dining areas are on this level too, and down the hall is the master King bedroom suite. Upstairs is a loft and the second bedroom suite with King bed as well as a loft with futon.  This mountain cabin has a split system air conditioning unit to keep you cool in the warmer months.  

Outside you'll enjoy the sights and sounds of Nature from the covered porch! Kick back in the cool mountain air and enjoy the gas firetable. Situated at ft in elevation, feel the cool mountain breezes through the year.  Grill up a feast on the park-style charcoal grill. Your four-legged family members are welcome to come along too!

The Apple Cabin is located less than 5 minutes into Blowing Rock and just 10 minutes into Boone. Appalachian Ski Mountain, access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Tweetsie Railroad & High Gravity Adventures are all 5 minutes away as well. All of the great shopping, dining, and things to do in the High Country are just a short drive away. Come make cherished memories today!

Additional notes:
- Up to 2 mature and well-trained dogs are welcome with a pet rent of $25+tax per night per pet. Pets other than dogs are not permitted 
- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, several garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers. Towels and linens will be provided. 

CANCELLATION POLICY -
Bookings canceled 30+ days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit.
Bookings canceled between 15-29 days before arrival will receive a refund of half of he deposit.
Bookings canceled within 14 days of arrival are not entitled to a refund unless the reservation dates are rebooked to another guest.
All bookings are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
